I chose to come to BYU because I love the spirit that is present on this campus. I remember coming here as a child, then a teenager for EFY, and I knew there was something different about this campus. The longer I have been here, the more blessed I feel to be here, surrounded by others who live the same standards I do.

A challenge I had as a freshman was learning how to manage my time and remember the different assignments I had. I started by making a to-do list, but that didn't help me manage my time between social activities, class, and homework. It just overwhelmed me to see all my assignments written out on paper. So I decided to try using a planner. I found the academic planner they gave us at New Student Orientation, and filled it out with my classes and other commitments I had. I then was able to schedule time for homework, see when I had open time that I was wasting, and then also leave myself time for fun. Now I am definitely a "planner person" and use one every day. Something I learned from this experience is to not give up just because one method that works for someone else doesn't work for you. There are always different solutions to each problem, so you just need to keep trying until you find something that works for you.
