Living at BYU can be a really great experience! There are lots of opportunities to make new friends and have loads of fun. Here’s some tips to make your living situation great!
On-Campus Housing The Traditional Freshman Experience
First-year students are not required to live on-campus, but it is highly recommended. On-campus housing helps students have a great social life, as well as receive help from the Residence Life staff. Become part of the on-campus citizens!

+ Dorm-style living
+ Meal plan required
Heritage Halls / $381 – $462
+ Apartment-style living with common areas
+ Newest housing on campus
Wyview Park / $260 – $335

+ Must be 19 years or older

Off-Campus Housing
Not an on-campus person?
Off-campus living can also be a great experience. When searching for off-campus living, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
BYU Contracted
+ Off-campus housing for single students must be approved. Make sure that your landlord lists the apartment as BYU approved.
+ Start looking for housing now! Search listings online or even on Facebook before you come to BYU.
Housing Waiver
+ You can live with your family or in non-contracted housing, but you must submit an Off-Campus Housing Waiver by the add/drop deadline (6 days after class starts).

Meal Plans If you eat food, this is for you!
Why have a BYU Meal Plan? It’s important to take care of your body so you can perform well and be happy. Meal Plans are quick, easy, and include dining locations all over campus. Meal plans can help students living in apartment-style housing to balance their expenses on food.
+ It is required for students living in Helaman Halls to purchase a meal plan.
About Meal Plans
Most meal plans give you various amounts of Dining Dollars. Dining Dollars are the currency of BYU Dining and can be used at all Dining locations (except Campus Floral and Concessions). Other meal plans allow students entrance to the Cannon Center, a buffet experience.
When you buy a plan, the funds will show up on your BYU ID card. Check your meal plan balance online at My Dining Account or on the BYU App.
Meal Plan Options
Click HERE to browse the BYU Meal Plans. There are eight great options! If you plan to live at Helaman Halls, you have to purchase one of four options. Make sure and find the one that fits your needs!
