Student Ratings
Help Your Professors

The Student Rating system allows students to confidentially rate their BYU learning experience. President Worthen said, “We need your input. Student evaluations of BYU faculty and courses are extremely important.”

+ IMPROVEMENT
Faculty are expected to review them to improve their courses and teaching methods.

+ EFFECTIVENESS
Department chairs are expected to review them annually with faculty to assess teaching effectiveness.

+ PROMOTION
University committees consider them carefully as part of faculty reviews to determine who is retained and promoted.

+ BYU STANDARDS
Please be honest, fair, and constructive as you complete your evaluations. It only takes a few minutes to do.

Personal Growth

+ Goals/Follow-up – Goals play an important part in progress and learning. Having built in follow-up time plays a big role in helping your goals be meaningful and carry over into action. Consider the following questions: What do I want to accomplish and when? What will I do to accomplish these goals? When will I evaluate my progress and adjust my goals?
+ Mindset – Choose to have a growth mindset. You may not have done online classes before, but you can learn to be effective in them now. It is possible to learn and adapt. You can get back up when you fall. Having a growth mindset includes viewing challenges as an opportunity to learn and grow, not the end of the road. If you find yourself having a fixed mindset or feeling discouraged one day, don’t worry, you can choose to change and work on developing a growth mindset.
