Health Insurance
Am I required to have health insurance through BYU?
BYU Health Insurance
BYU students enrolled at least 3/4 time (9.0 credit hours during fall and or winter semesters, 4.5 credit hours for spring/summer terms) are required to have health insurance. Each student is automatically enrolled in BYU’s student health plan. This health plan is automatically charged to your account on BYU My Financial Center.
Separate Insurance Plan
If you are already covered by a private health insurance plan, you may waive the BYU plan:
"Prior to the last day to add/drop classes, you will waive it online through myBYU. Access 'My Financial Center' and at the top of the page select 'My Accounts'. Next select 'Health Coverage' and then select 'Report Coverage'. Enter your private insurance information. Press the 'Save Private Insurance Information'."
Deadline
If you are adding a private health insurance plan, make sure to add it before the add/drop deadline. After the add/drop deadline you cannot opt out of the student health plan.

+ Add/Drop Deadline (and last day to waive the student health plan by adding private insurance): May 5th, 2020
Summer Term
+ First Day of Classes: June 22nd, 2020
+ Add/Drop Deadline (and last day to waive the student health plan by adding private insurance): June 29th, 2020
Fall Semester
+ First Day of Classes: August 31st, 2020
+ Add/Drop Deadline (and last day to waive the student health plan by adding private insurance): September 8th, 2020
