Hey Cougars,

Need some inspiration? This newsletter is all about devotionals and how they can impact your BYU experience! Use the link at the bottom to watch President and Sister Worthen's devotional message from January 2020 about enduring joy and learning from the best stories.
BYU Devotionals
What is a devotional?

BYU’s first principal, Karl G. Maeser, (yes, the Maeser building was named after him) was committed to following Brigham Young’s counsel to teach...

“NEITHER THE ALPHABET NOR THE MULTIPLICATION TABLES WITHOUT THE SPIRIT OF GOD.”

To cultivate a religious spirit, Maeser organized daily devotionals. Today we have weekly devotionals where a speaker shares a Gospel-based message. Each devotional begins with a musical number and a prayer.
BYU Forums
What is a forum?

In addition to spiritual messages, the University also invites speakers who share insights that are more secular in nature. Forum speakers expose students to new ways of thinking and viewing the world. From Olympians to friars, these presenters are remarkable people with remarkable experiences. Come gain insight and motivation for your own life and aspirations!
The Maeser Building
When and Where?

Devotionals and forums are held every Tuesday at 11:05 AM MT. During Fall and Winter semesters they typically take place in the Marriott Center. Most devotionals are broadcast live on BYUtv, BYUtv.org, KBYU-TV 11, Classical 89 FM, BYU Radio, and will be archived on speeches.byu.edu.

"While large gatherings are prohibited due to COVID-19, BYUtv will rebroadcast classic BYU devotionals during spring and summer terms on Tuesdays at 11 MT" Check out the schedule using the link below!

Attendance
Why should I go?

BYU hopes that every student makes time each week to attend the devotional or forum. Classes are not held during this time and campus employees are also expected to attend. This is a unique opportunity to enhance your education as you listen to some of the world’s most accomplished and inspired men and women.

Past speakers have included the Prophet and many from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Bonnie H Cordon, Phil Rash (from our office!), Dean Madrian, Liz Wiseman, and Alan Stern from NASA.
At the beginning of this year President and Sister Worthen gave a devotional together and it was so good we wanted to share it with YOU! President Worthen talked about Enduring Joy and Sister Worthen talked about Learning from the Best Stories.
