Hey Cougars,

There are many ways to get around the Utah Valley, with or without a car. This week we’ll share details on each mode of transportation.

Transportation on Campus
Shoes get good gas mileage.

Walking
BYU campus was designed to be pedestrian friendly. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from one end of campus to the other.

Bikes and Where to Put Them
Biking is a great transportation mode. Just remember to yield to pedestrians and to not bike during the 10 minute class breaks.

Bike racks are available across campus for registered bikes. You can register your bike for free. To register your bike:
1) Go to the BYU Police website, then under > Parking and Bikes > click "Register Your Bike"
2) Complete the form.
3) Print the form and bring it to the parking office at 2120 JKB to receive your bicycle license.

There are bike pumps located across campus. For more information on this and general bicycle maintenance tips, click HERE.

BYU also has a Bike Share program for all BYU students and employees. Rent a bike for $45/semester (F/W) or $25/term (Spr/Su). More information HERE.
Transportation to Campus
Ways to get there.

UTA Buses
Did you know your BYU ID card doubles as a UTA Pass? This means you can ride the frontrunner and buses (including the newer UVX buses) for free! These routes show up on GoogleMaps and are posted on RideUTA. Click HERE to learn more.

RYDE Campus Shuttle
BYU offers a free shuttle service to campus at no cost for students. There are 6 routes offered by The Ryde shuttle service which will run every 15-20 minutes during high demand times. View the routes and schedules HERE.

Night Transportation
If you need to travel at night and are going by foot, consider using the SafeWalk Program. With SafeWalk you can have a BYU police officer escort you home or track your route to make sure you reach your destination safely. Launch the SafeWalk feature in your BYU app to learn more and get started.

LINK Scooters
Last August, Provo introduced hundreds of new rent-able, motorized LINK scooters to provide micro-transport to almost everywhere in Provo. This service charges $1 to unlock and 30 cents/minute while riding. You can ride them to get to campus, but not on BYU property. Download the LINK app to start riding!

An overview of transportation services at BYU can be found HERE.

Registration and Parking
Students who want to park on campus will need to pay $60 per semester to register their cars for Y lot parking. There are three free lots that are located about 15-20 minutes walking distance from campus. Click HERE to register your car.

There is extremely limited on-site parking at Heritage Halls. Off-site parking is available by the Marriott Center. Click HERE for details.

Enterprise Car Renting
Students can also rent cars from Enterprise. Enterprise has lower membership and rent rates for BYU freshman, so take advantage of this opportunity while you can. Click HERE for more information.
